Sabbath week
The first week of St. Lucia was a time for the whole of the Ship to slow down and to reflect on God. We had sessions every morning looking through the book
of James and then the afternoons were free to relax and spend time with one another. It was a good time and very needed as life on the ship is very busy with lots of demands
on our time. Kathryn spent a lot of time with one of our 'children' Adele from Cameroon, as Adele spent 14 hours braiding Kathryn's hair!
The A-Team
For one week in St. Lucia, Kathryn and five others from the ship, went and worked with a local ministry, working in some of the poorest communities in St. Lucia.
The week started out with a whole weekend with 10 youngsters from one of the communities. We ate with them, slept in the same rooms as them, cooked and cleaned
with them and spent time with them on the beach. At the beginning of the weekend they were very quiet and withdrawn, prefering to act up rather than relate to us.
By the time we left them at their homes on Sunday, they wee smiling and relaxed, enjoying being children again rather than having to act like adults. These children
come from very difficult backgrounds, often they are abused, neglected and unloved.
During the week we visited two of the schools these youngsters go to and did an interactive evangelistic presentation for them. We also went into three communities and
did an evangelistic presentation in the community centres there. On the Friday evening we were back in the community where the youngsters are from and had a film night
sharing about God to the children there.
Saturday saw the youngsters coming on board the Logos II. We had prepared some tables in the dining room, dressign it up nicely to show them how much they are loved.
They had supper with us and then we took them on a tour of the ship before taking them to the youth concert that was on board. After the concert we met up with them
again, gave out some care packages to each one of them and then said goodbye.
